Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Translator Keyboard ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our iOS keyboard extension and its companion app (collectively, the "App"). By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. App Architecture
Translator Keyboard consists of two components:
- Containing App: The main application you download from the App Store. It provides onboarding, settings, subscription management, and the Privacy Dashboard.
- Keyboard Extension: A custom keyboard that runs within other apps. The keyboard extension operates in a sandboxed environment with limited memory and only communicates with external services when you explicitly trigger a feature (such as translation or AI assistance).
These two components share data through a secure App Group container on your device.
2. Full Access
iOS requires that third-party keyboard extensions receive "Full Access" permission to perform network requests. When you enable Full Access for Translator Keyboard:
- The keyboard extension can send text to translation and AI services when you explicitly request it.
- The keyboard extension can access the device microphone for voice dictation.
- The keyboard extension can display rewarded ads if you opt in.
We do not passively monitor, log, or transmit your keystrokes. Text is only sent to external services when you explicitly initiate a translation, AI writing action, or voice dictation.
3. AI Features and Text Processing
Translator Keyboard offers AI-powered translation and writing assistance. When you use these features:
- The text you submit is sent to third-party AI service providers for processing.
- We transmit only the text necessary to fulfill your request.
- We do not store the content of your translations or AI requests on our servers after processing is complete.
- Third-party AI providers may process your text in accordance with their own privacy policies and data retention practices.
AI-generated content is provided as-is and may not always be accurate. You are responsible for reviewing any output before using it.
4. Voice Dictation and Speech Processing
Translator Keyboard includes a voice dictation feature that converts spoken words to text:
- Voice dictation requires Full Access and microphone permission.
- Audio data is processed by Apple’s on-device or cloud-based speech recognition services, depending on your device and iOS version.
- We do not record, store, or transmit raw audio data to our own servers.
- Speech recognition accuracy depends on device capabilities, language, and environmental conditions.
5. Subscriptions and Billing
Translator Keyboard offers optional subscription plans through Apple’s in-app purchase system:
- All payment processing is handled by Apple. We do not collect, process, or store your payment information (credit card numbers, billing addresses, etc.).
- We receive a transaction receipt from Apple that confirms your subscription status. This receipt does not contain your financial details.
- Subscription management (renewals, cancellations) is handled through your Apple ID account settings.
6. Rewarded Ads
If you do not have an active subscription, you may choose to watch rewarded video ads to earn bonus access to premium features. Rewarded ads are provided by Google AdMob.
- Ads are only shown when you explicitly choose to watch them. We never display ads without your consent.
- When you watch a rewarded ad, Google AdMob may collect certain information including your device advertising identifier (IDFA), IP address, and general device information.
- Google AdMob uses this data to serve ads and measure ad performance, in accordance with Google’s Privacy Policy.
- You can manage your ad personalization preferences through the in-app Privacy Dashboard (see Privacy Choices).
- On iOS 14.5 and later, we request your permission through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework before allowing any tracking-related data collection by ad providers.
7. Service Providers and Third-Party SDKs
We use the following third-party services:
- Google AdMob: Serves rewarded video ads. May collect device identifiers, IP address, and interaction data for ad delivery and measurement. Google Privacy Policy.
- AI/Translation Service Providers: Process text you submit for translation and AI writing features. Text is transmitted securely and is not retained after processing.
- Apple: Handles in-app purchases, speech recognition, and App Store distribution.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
8. Data We Collect
We collect minimal data necessary to operate the App:
- Usage data: Basic, anonymized usage statistics such as feature usage counts to improve the App. This data is not linked to your identity.
- Subscription status: Stored locally on your device via Apple transaction receipts.
- User preferences: Your app settings and privacy choices, stored locally on your device.
We do not collect names, email addresses, or account information unless you contact us directly for support.
9. User Choices
You have control over your data and privacy:
- Full Access: You can revoke Full Access at any time in iOS Settings. Without it, the keyboard operates as a basic input tool with no network access.
- Ad Privacy: Manage your ad personalization preferences in the app via Settings > Privacy Dashboard > Manage Ad Privacy Choices.
- App Tracking Transparency: On iOS 14.5+, you can deny tracking permission when prompted, or change it later in Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.
- Microphone: You can revoke microphone access at any time in iOS Settings.
- Delete App Data: Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data.
10. Children’s Privacy
Translator Keyboard is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
